Christmas Cruise Review Carnival Magic 2021

Dadventures 2021 Christmas Special! If you've ever thought about taking a Christmas cruise for the holidays, this is the video for you. My family and I cruised aboard the Carnival Magic from December 19 - 26, setting sail to Mexico and Central America.

Our Christmas cruise took us to Costa Maya Mexico, Roatan Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel Mexico.

Costa Maya was a beautiful and well-established port! The sales people were not very pushy and you could usually get a deal without really having to haggle. There is a beautiful pool area, dolphin excursion, and aviaries throughout. The music was great and the people very hospitable. We drove to the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins (about 50 minutes) and were able to see much of the surrounding area. We were surprised how rural this part of Mexico is once you left the port. Plenty of open land which didn't look developed at all.

Roatan Honduras was also a very nice port of call. This island, about 40 minutes off the mainland, relies nearly 100% on tourism and was hit hard by Covid when cruising stopped. All the people there were very grateful for our visit and our business. My family and I split up and did two separate excursions. I went into the jungle on the far side of the island for zip lining which was incredible. My wife and daughters went to Monkeys, Sloths and Macaws which was a great experience. They also visited an Iguana sanctuary. The bathrooms were very clean in the port.

Belize didn't seem as established as the other ports and was reminiscent of those you would find in the islands of the Eastern Caribbean. The ships anchor offshore and you take a ferry in. This is to help preserve the gorgeous coral reef which is the second largest in the world. The shops here had the best designs and deals were abundant if you shopped around. Stay away from the corporate shops (Piraña Joe) and head for the smaller private ones.

This was our second visit to Cozumel and we were at the southern most port of the three on the island. This was simply the best port, not only on Cozumel, but of the entire trip! The shops were incredible, the people warm and friendly, and they DEFINITELY knew how to do Christmas right! We exited the port and walked to the Royal Caribbean one just north of us which was not nearly as nice to our surprise.

Overall while this cruise was incredible, it was not very "Christmasy" which was a bit of a let down. If we go again around the holidays, we will have Christmas at home and head out for New Years which would be fantastic aboard a Carnival ship!
