From the busy streets of Brooklyn in the 30s and 40s, Robert Weston Smith aka Wolfman Jack - would go on to turn his childhood love of radio into a career that affected millions. The Wolfman developed a radio personality so vibrant and singular, it attracted millions to tune it, all across North America.
And with his iconic gravely, raspy voice, he was an outlier and a trailblazer, howling at the moon whenever he damn well pleased. He was edgy, oftentimes sexually suggestive, but he had something special. And with all we know about this legendary radio personality, surely there’s some we don’t. Why did the Wolfman have to leave America to reach more Americans? And how did the wolfman create his on-air personality, who did he base it off of, and was there a pre-wolfman character?
