Queensland Police will have ‘lasting damage’ to its reputation

Queensland Police recruited women who were “not up to standard” in order to meet a 50-50 gender target – a policy which was a “key imperative” of the Palaszczuk government, says Sky News host Chris Kenny.

He said the “amazing revelations” show “just how damaging and unfair” some of the focus on women’s issues has become.

“The investigation found that around 200 male applicants who met the tough requirements would have been successful if it wasn’t for this discriminatory policy.

“To the credit of the current commissioner, Katarina Carroll - the state’s first female commissioner - one of her first actions in the top job was to put an end to this woke tomfoolery,” Mr Kenny said.

“But the damage done within the police ranks and to their reputation, will sadly last a bit longer.”

He spoke with Queensland Police Union President Ian Leavers about the issue.

Mr Leavers said he was “absolutely” aware of what was happening but “every time” he raised it, seniors denied it.

“The fact is I knew it was happening, I mentioned it on many many occasions, I’ve gone public and they simply lied on each and every occasion," he said.
