How To Enable 1440P 120HZ VRR On Xbox Series X/S - Proper Settings Explained!
How to get 1440P 120hz and VRR to work on Xbox Series X/S if you are using a **1440P 120hz compatible monitor** (see below for notes on monitor compatibility)? I show you how I have my Gigabyte G32QC setup in this video to properly utilize 1440P 120hz with VRR. This method should work on any monitor or TV that supports 1440P 120HZ. We also talk about a common issue that is preventing people from using 120hz for monitors that have internal 4K downscalers.

𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄 ABOUT MONITOR COMPATIBILITY:
*Just because a monitor supports 1440P at 144hz (or higher) on PC doesn't necessarily mean that it is compatible with Xbox to run at 120hz.
There are two caveats:
1.) Some freesync monitors are limited to a maximum refresh rate of under 120hz when using the HDMI connection (even though 144hz+ is allowed on DisplayPort). If this is the case, try disabling VRR and see if you can get 1440P 120hz. The VRR ranges for the monitor inputs should be listed on your manufactures website so that you can double check as well.
2.) The monitor must have 1440P 120hz refresh rate in its EDID (Resolution Data). Not all 1440P 144hz monitors have this. You should be able to find resolution data charts on your monitor manufactures website. You're looking for 1440P 120hz VESA standard as that is what is compatible with Xbox. Xbox Support is looking into expanding support to help resolve this issue at a software level however no solid plans yet.
