DEBUNKED: Busting a couple common myths

Busting a couple common myths:

1. Moving from a closed hip to an open hip will not “grind away your hip cartilage” 😑 … The hip is a ball and socket joint to accommodate circumduction. This can be perform from the femur or from the pelvis and is only safe but also great to help build bone density.

2. A neutral spine is great if we are going to do heavy lifts. But to say you have to do every movement in a neutral spine is pretty crazy. How will your brain have the maps to accommodate movements outside of neutral if you never practice it?

3. Relaxing your glutes in a backbend doesn’t make sense. How can your hip move into hip extension without the hip extensors firing? The glutes are also huge (the biggest) stabilisers, wouldn’t it be more helpful to have them active?

What’s your favourite myth?

Ps. There is a 50% off CEL on anatomy and neuroscience for yoga courses now. Comment below for details.
