Ray Sawyer ’13 on pursuing change: ‘Have a healthy dissatisfaction of the way things are now’
Released today on the Catalyze podcast: Ray is the director of community health partnerships at Well, a health tech and services company co-founded by Dave Werry ’06. Ray is also a consultant and coach at Project Be Better, a startup he founded.
On this episode, Ray reflects on how his time at Carolina, and post-grad experiences in South Korea and at Google, have translated into his work today. Beyond his career, he also shares about rethinking time management as energy management, his approach to fortifying strong relationships with others, and how a “healthy dissatisfaction of the way things are now” can fuel efforts to create positive change.
The alumnus spoke with co-hosts Stella Smolowitz ’26 and Allyson Horst ’27 of the Scholar Media Team after a coffee chat event with scholars on October 14. Ray moderated the discussion with members of the Black Alumni Working Group (BAWG) and Black alumni from the Foundation’s boards.
