Wisconsin Foodie - Death's Door Spirits and Washington Island Juniper Harvest
In this episode of Wisconsin Foodie, we go from berry to bottle and see how one of our favorite spirits, Gin, is produced at Death’s Doors Spirits. We meet Death’s Door founder Brian Ellison and hear his philosophy on why he started a spirits company in order to preserve the agricultural history and community of Washington Island. We then travel from Middleton to Washington Island with a group called Lush Life, made up of various bartenders and mixologists from around the country. On Washington Island the group participates in a Juniper Harvest competition at Greengate Farms, which all of the harvested berries will be used by Death’s Door Spirits to create their hallmark Gin.
