Thales: the Internet of things - Dean – operation technology engineer

This video showcases the Thales: the internet of things challenge, part of the This is Engineering: Schools – Welsh Valleys programme (formerly the Welsh Valleys Engineering Project).

The challenge helps students design a device that benefits their community using the power of the internet, all while ensuring it remains safe and secure from cyber threats.

This is Engineering: Schools – Welsh Valleys is an engineering education programme established by the Royal Academy of Engineering. It delivers STEM education support for students and teachers and provides opportunities and career guidance beyond the classroom. The project plays an integral role in transforming local communities. It raises young peoples’ aspirations and improves social mobility in the Welsh Valleys.

Explore our school resources, a set of 10 engineering challenges, co-created by engineers and teachers in Wales for primary and secondary schools. Each challenge is a project-based activity merging science, design, technology, computing, and mathematics.
