Words in the cracks | Paul Jennings | TEDxNHS

In his TEDxNHS talk Paul shares his experience of mental health, including his arrest and detention in the custody suite he had managed as a custody sergeant. Paul recognised that the police force at the time was looking to assess guilt, and not to seek to understand the reasons for his behaviour.
Paul reflects on the Japanese art of Kintsugi. We are all broken, and our cracks are what make us valuable. Paul Jennings was a police officer for 20 years becoming specialist Mental Health Police Sergeant with Hampshire Constabulary and an NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
