For a long time, one of the major complaints about superhero franchises was the lack of female characters.
However, in recent times, they've become more prominent with the likes of Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn starring in the DCEU and Black Widow and Captain Marvel at the forefront of the MCU.
But villainous female characters are also growing in number - especially in Marvel's flagship franchise.
In this video, we'll take you through the most powerful female villains in the MCU to date - including characters from both the movies AND TV shows.
The female villains in question are; Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) from 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) from 2018's Avengers: Infinity War, Nebula (Karen Gillan) who was first introduced in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Alisa Jones (Miriam Shor and Janet McTeer) from the Jessica Jones Netflix show, Flora (Krista Alvarez) from the Inhumans TV show, Ellen Brandt (Stephanie Szostak) from 2013's Iron Man 3, Ghost AKA Ava Starr from 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, Lorelei (Elena Satine) from season one of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet With (Elizabeth Olsen) who was first introduced as a villain in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Hela (Cate Blanchett) from 2017's Thor: The Dark World.
