ACCC 'satisfied' with Qantas settlement that promises 'pro-consumer' benefits

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb says Qantas has “admitted” to misleading customers.

Qantas have settled with the ACCC for $120 million regarding allegations the airline sold tickets to ghost flights that had already been cancelled.

“We are satisfied, because we have received early settlement … on terms that are beneficial to consumers,” Ms Cass-Gottlieb told Sky News Business Reporter Ed Boyd.

“So, we have an enforceable commitment they will not engage in similar conduct in the future.

“These are very important pro-consumer benefits.”
