Heart of Acadiana: Cow Island's Dustin Gaspard talks about performance on NBC's 'The Voice'

A singer from Vermilion Parish is capturing hearts as he chases his dream on NBC's "The Voice." Dustin Dale Gaspard's blind audition, which aired earlier this week, resulted in a remarkable four-chair turn from the judges. Gaspard, 33, of Cow Island, is making his hometown proud. "I feel so honored to highlight Louisiana and to be on this journey," he said. Gaspard grew up in the unincorporated community in Vermilion Parish. He described Cow Island as "the gateway to what I think is the most beautiful parish in all of Louisiana." Coming from a family that loved music but did not play instruments, Gaspard taught himself to play on an old, worn-out guitar.
