The Summer Garden | A look at Southern tradition at many Central Georgians' homes

For many, growing a summer garden is a southern tradition. You've got peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, strawberries and more.

Junior journalist Carter Taylor visited the Byron backyard garden of Cindy Vogel, where her neighbors get to share the harvest.

"I just love a tomato sandwich, a lot of tomato with eggs in the morning," Vogel said.

Tomatoes are just one of the many vegetables growing in her garden. She said her family had a garden growing up, but she got away from it.

"I read one book about survival and I was like, well maybe I'll start growing my own food and I've started canning my tomatoes this year," Vogel said.
