Two old ladies dancing - Kamov Ka-26 & Hiller UH-12
A tradition have reborned with Budaörs Airshow. During the two days airshow visitors could see allmost all the types from hungarian general aviation, in the program formation flights with Cessna and An-2 planes, helicopter formations, Mi-2 helicopter aerobatics, Kamov Ka-26 spraying demo, plane aerobatics from Gyula Váry with his Jak-52, and of course Péter Bessenyei with the Corvus Racer.
Budaörs airport is the oldest international airport for general aviation in Hungary. The main building was built in 1937, now it is an industrial monument. After the millenium the airport slowly deteriorated, but last year Fly-Coop aviation company bought it and the airport started to rise again.
Hiller Raven is a very old helicopter construction. The Hiller OH-23 Raven was a light observation helicopter based on the Hiller Model 360. The Model 360 was designated by the company as the UH-12 ("UH" for United Helicopters), which was first flown in 1948.
The H-23 Raven performed as a utility, observation, and MedEvac helicopter during the Korean War.
The Raven used Hiller's "Rotor-Matic" cyclic control system, with two small servo rotor paddles offset 90 degrees to the main rotor blades. The paddles were attached to the control column, so that movement of the column would cause the pitch of the servo paddles to change, loading the main rotor blade so that the desired cyclic changes to the rotor occurred.
This Hiller (HA-MIG) came from America, then started operating in Hungary 1997.
Now she is in Fly-Coop Kft. fleet. The company use her as a training helicopter.
This Kamov Ka-26 helicopter was manufactured in 1977 in Kumertau, Russia. It flown in the Hungarian Air Service between 1977-1989, was used for agricultural flights. After 1989 Agrokopter Kft. bought it and the chopper is still operates with them. The chopper stations in Kéthely, not far from Lake Balaton. The team had less and less work in the last years, so they sold the chopper to Urbán Kft. Now she operates in their fleet from Őcsény airport.
After 1989 a lot of small aviation companies made sightseeing flights around Lake Balaton. This Kamov Ka-26 operated from Balatonkeresztúr airport and made sightseeing flights with passanger cabin. In the agricultural season the team used the helicopter in passanger flights and agricultural flights too.
She got the special color scheme for sightseeing flights, for me that makes her the loveliest chopper in the word. Unfortunately during the years the special color scheme run-down.
