Security breach exposes over one million DNA profiles

GEDmatch, a website that uses DNA to match family relatives, was hacked and exposed over one million DNA profiles. The site is known for helping to identify the Golden State Killer and their continued partnership with police to help solve other cold cases. Users are given the option to 'opt-in' to allowing police to access their data. Suddenly, these DNA profiles that had been hidden from cops were available for police to search. Following the breach, users email addresses were targeted in a phishing attack on MyHeritage, another leading genealogy site. In this Technado mini clip, the guys discuss their thoughts on genealogy and the security breach.
