I’m Joe Harrison, I’m the Chief Exec of the National Market Traders Federation. The NMTF is a trade association that represents market traders within the UK. We represent some 80% of all working traders in the UK today. The NMTF is more than just representing the traders, it’s there to make sure we sustain the industry. So the members benefit by the facts of the actions we do to do that and also by taking advantage of the membership offers that we put together and work with our sponsors on. We needed to work in partnership with a chip and pin company and chip and solutions filled that bill.
We needed traders to be taking the cards on the stalls and we needed somebody we could rely upon and the customer service that Chip and Pin offers is absolutely excellent. We found it to be, over the last 8 years we’ve been working together, the best service you’re ever likely to get. So that’s what’s important to us. Our federation has been around for 115 years and our memberships belong to us for our reliability and Chip and Pin certainly fits that bill. If the machine’s going down, if they’re not getting fast service then they’re not taking the money they should be taking. So that’s why the reliability is there and why Chip and Pin fit that bill.
It means that wherever they’re trading – most of our membership are mobile – so wherever they’re trading they’re able to take the cards wherever they are and moreover they can benefit from the excellent transaction rates which would be far higher would they not to be on the Chip and Pin system.
As I mentioned earlier, we’ve actually had 8 years experience working together with Chip and Pin and the experience has been excellent, in fact we couldn’t ask anymore. For us, it’s the perfect solution for our membership.
