How in the WORLD did the Bucks Build from a LOSING to a Winning Franchise 2019 2020 2021 Season

The Milwaukee Bucks is one of the best teams in the NBA today with a record of 56-17 in the 2019-2020 regular season, which is the best of any team in the league! They were also top of the Eastern Conference with a 60-22 record in the 2018-2019 season. But they were not always this good……if we just take a quick look at the 2013-2014 season, we see that the same Bucks franchise was at the bottom of the barrel in the East with a dismal 15-67 record. However, the franchise has undergone a massive transformation over the past six seasons, which can be attributed to some smart moves by the management and coaching staff of the Bucks organization. Here is how the Bucks have built a winning NBA franchise in Milwaukee!

Despite the dismal performance in the 2013-2014 season, this was the year that the Bucks organization started a complete overhaul of the team, acquiring some new players and making some trades that would prove instrumental in the eventual transformation of the franchise. Some of the noted players acquired in 2013-2014 included a young Giannis Antetokounmpo, picked 15th overall in the draft. Kris Middleton was also obtained through a trade with the Pistons. Seven additional new players were acquired, and the Bucks started the 2013-2014 season with only four players from the previous on their roster! The season was the worst in the Bucks' history, but the rebuilding strategy with a focus on young talent was well on the way!

The Bucks started the 2014 season by selecting the young and vibrant Jason Kidd as head coach and adding three more young players, including the second overall draft pick Jabari Parker, Michael Carter-Williams, Tyler Ennis, and Miles Plumlee. There was a significant improvement in the team's performance in 2014-2015, with young players such as Giannis and Kris Middleton starting to establish themselves as outstanding players. The Bucks achieved a credible record of 41-41 in the 2014-2015 season, which showed that the strategy of building with youth was bearing fruit. The team regressed a little in 2015-2016 with a 33-49 record, then steadily improved to 42-40 in 2016-2017 and 44-38 in 2017-2018. The team added new talent in the form of Malcolm Brogdon in the 2016-2017 and Donte DiVincenzo in the 2018 draft. The team also hired Mike Budenholzer as head coach. Budenholzer is an extremely experienced coach who served as the Assistant Coach at the NBA winning San Antonio Spurs and head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.

The acquisition of all these young players from draft picks and trades between 2013-2018 and the exemplary basketball acumen of the Coach Mike Budenholzer finally transformed the Bucks into a top team in the Eastern Conference. The team topped the conference with a record of 60-22 in 2018-2019 and again in the current 2019-2020 season with a 56-17 record. The Bucks now have a winning mentality and the star power of players such as reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe, and Brook Lopez. They have all the ingredients of a potential super team, and we expect them to be at the top of the Eastern Conference for at least the next few years. Yes……and they will also win the NBA Championship soon!!!....
