NOW SOLD - 1938 MG Midget ‘Series TA’ - 'nut and bolt restoration' with Robin Lawton Vintage

It’s an MG… but with a difference. A top speed close to 80 mph!

1938 MG Midget ‘Series TA’ - 'nut and bolt restoration'

Successor to the PB Midget, the TA arrived in 1936 with a longer wheelbase and wider track, offering improved ride quality and more cockpit space.

Under the bonnet, the TA featured a 1.3-litre pushrod engine developed from the Wolseley 10, with twin SU carburettors. With around 50 bhp on tap and a top speed close to 80 mph, it was a lively performer in its day - and great value at just £222 when new.

This particular 1938 MG TA has been meticulously rebuilt from the bare chassis. A correct MPJG engine is fitted, making it VSCC eligible, and a comprehensive photo file documents the restoration.

Looking exceptionally smart in two-tone green, it’s a striking example with real character.
