Norman Brennan: 'Police officers kneel to put pads over bullet holes and stab wounds'

Mike Graham speaks to Norman Brennan, Former Police Officer and Law and Order Campaigner about yesterday's attack on two police officers in Hackney.

Norman said police offers do kneel and it is to "put pads over bullet holes and stab wounds" when people have been shot or stabbed, saying the police service should not kneel to everyone and should serve all members of the community equally.

He said that Black Lives Matter campaigners use the the words "I can't breathe" and added "yesterday afternoon one of my colleagues couldn't breathe for a little while...who knows what could have happened"

Two men have been arrested after a video showing a “despicable” attack on two police officers in Hackney was shared on social media.

A 20-year-old and 38-year-old remain in custody, having been arrested on suspicion of assaulting police.

Footage posted online shows a male officer being pinned down on the ground and kicked, while his female colleague is pushed as she attempts to intervene.

Several men, including one with a baseball bat, surround them swearing, shouting and filming on their phones, with one dancing and taking a selfie during the assault.

The Metropolitan Police’s Hackney force said the incident was “truly despicable” as it confirmed the officers involved were safe but shaken.
