Carving a Snake from Wood! Shamokin, Pa. Part 1 of 3

In this first of a three part demonstration, i'll be taking the viewer through a step by step process of carving a Northern Copperhead snake from a solid piece of Basswood. The basswood measures 17" long X 5 1/2" wide X 1 3/4" thick. Some important measurements of the snake are; the width of the head is 1 3/8" wide X 2 1/8" long X 5/8" thick and the width of the eyes from outside to outside is just a little under 13/16". The diameter of the eye is about 5/32". The widest part of the body is 1 1/2". I'll be using various aggressive bits in my Foredom tool along with a few smaller bits in my Gesswein high speed grinder. This is not a professionally made video so you will actually hear the different sounds of the tools I use. Also, to make a long story short, I fast forwarded the footage in the repetitive areas like removing wood from around the snake, under the snake, band sawing, and grinding. You will get the idea of what I am doing by watching. Sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy the woodcarving process to completing this snake! Detailing and Painting will follow in Part 2 and 3.
