Why Every Drummer Should Learn SNARE Before DRUMSET
In an ideal world, every beginner drummer should learn snare before learning drumset. Today I’ll share with you what I mean by this and what it means for anyone just getting started on the instrument. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced drummer, it’s not too late to revamp your snare chops. We discuss all the numerous benefits of practicing solely on a snare, and we discover how the technique you build up via snare practice trickles over to almost all drumset playing you do. Interestingly, a lack of hand skills can result in a lack of foot skills. If you’re struggling to get your feet to play what you want them to play, start by getting your hand technique together. If you’re having issues playing syncopation on the kick drum or keeping time on the hihat (with left foot), spend some time focusing on your hands. This will translate to your feet. Don’t neglect this important category of drumset practice. Become the most well-rounded drummer you can be.
