Every year in India, on an average 4000 accidents happen due to potholes on the roads, in which about 1800 people lose their lives! To get rid of this problem of potholes, the Government of India is bringing self-healing roads! That is, roads that will repair the potholes on their own! NHAI has told that bitumen and steel fiber will be used in the mixture to make self-healing roads. Bitumen is an adhesive substance in asphalt. Asphalt is made by mixing it with small pieces of steel wool. And by adding this steel wool, bitumen becomes conductive, which makes it easy to heat the bitumen with an induction device. And when heated, it sticks to the gravel and stones inside the asphalt and starts sealing the cracks automatically. With the help of this self-healing road, a lot of money spent on repairing potholes every year can be saved!
