You must have seen that whenever the tenant, landlord or even the broker makes a rent agreement, the contract is made for 11 months only. So do you know why the contract is only for 11 months?

There is an Indian Registration Act. Information about some documents has been given in its section 17, their registration is necessary and the lease deed is also mentioned in it. Let us tell you that the rent agreement is considered as lease deed in a way. It has been said in it that if there is any lease deed above one year, then you will also have to get the lease deed done. In this case, if the rent agreement is for more than 1 year, then it will have to be registered.

After this, if someone gets the registration done, then duty, stamp expenses etc. will have to be paid for that. In such a situation, to avoid this expense, the rent agreement is made for 11 months only. After this it is renewed, but it is not a contract for more than 12 months.
