Band of the Irish Guards - Buckingham Palace - 21 April 2015

The Band of the Irish Guards accompanies the New Guard, on this day found by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, from Wellington Barracks to Buckingham Palace for Changing The Queen's Guard on 21 April 2015. They are lead by Drum Major WO2 Sie de Wit, 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.

This is the (actual) birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and as such the Drum Major wears State Dress. The Trooping of The Colour, otherwise known as The Queen's Birthday Parade, is always held on the second Saturday in June regardless of the Sovereign's actual birthday as the weather is "usually" better without the heat of summer and consequent over-worked Guards' stretcher bearers.
