Authentic 1922 Makeup Application
For this makeup look, I closely followed the instructions given in a 1922 Photoplay article. The original article featured Colleen Moore and described how her makeup was done. As I mentioned in the video, I suspect this was a film look rather than an everyday look since there was no rouge used on her cheeks (rouged cheeks do not film well in black and white and was not recommended for film or photographs). It does appear in the pictures from the article that she is wearing more eye makeup than the instructions suggest, but upon closer inspection I believe the "shadow" overtop her eye might just be her natural skintone. The greasepaint is obviously a much lighter colour, so perhaps her eyelids appear to have a shadow just because of the contrast.
Products Used:
Homemade Victorian Cold Cream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tBzzY-8JNU
Foundation: Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in Fair (this is an old bottle. I'm slightly allergic to it, so I only use it for filming)

*Mascara: Creamy Black Cake Mascara by Keeping It Natural http://tidd.ly/2d2f2dd8
Lipstick: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche in Beetroot
The end clip is one of the more memorable scenes from Ella Cinders. It's in the public domain, so I thought it would be fun to include.
