Canada announces new agreement to build more homes faster in Atlantic provinces
Canadian Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Sean Fraser announced a new agreement to develop a tailored framework aimed at building more homes faster in Atlantic Canada on Monday.
The framework will include support to grow the factory-built home industry and a dedicated chapter in the federal catalogue of pre-approved designs.
“We're going to include specifically a chapter dedicated to Atlantic Canada and the federal catalogue of pre-approved designs and we're going to recognize the unique needs of Atlantic Canada with coordinated programs that capitalize on the federal apartment construction loan program and affordable housing funds,” Fraser said.
The agreement is expected to facilitate the effective deployment of resources to continue the work of building more homes in the region.
Fraser noted that there are still some details to finalize the framework. The officials plan to have a follow-up meeting in April in Ottawa and engage again this summer in Atlantic provinces.
