Richard Mille RM 055 Bubba Watson Review – RM55 Luxury Watch

The Richard Mille RM 055 was created for the professional golfer Bubba Watson. The first time I saw this watch, I compared it to the Nadal RM35.

Both movements are the same and cradled in the middle with shock absorbers, even though both watches do have their differences. Unlike the Nadal, which is lighter and made out of carbon fiber, the RM55 Bubba Watson is made out of ceramic and has a clear caseback.

I initially thought that the entire case was ceramic, but only the top plate actually is. This is not weird for Richard Mille to do, since they're known for complicating watches and making them extra sophisticated. The white material on the sides and back is actually titanium wrapped in some sophisticated, high-tech rubber. I'm sure they had their reasons to use this combination of materials in the RM 055, but personally I would have preferred it to be completely ceramic.

The movement is manual wound and has a 55-hour power reserve.

As you know, I love the rubber straps on Richard Mille watches (including the one that comes with this watch from factory). The watch that I'm actually reviewing has a canvas strap with Velcro on the bottom, which is not what you expect to see with such an expensive watch. So even though I like the original white rubber strap, I like the contrast that the black strap provides as well.

Even though I'm not a fan of white watches, I do like this Bubba Watson from Richard Mille.

The retail price of the Richard Mille RM 055 is approximately $104,000, but due to the market demand, these watches are going for quite a bit over retail. Expect to pay at least $140,000 if you want to buy an RM55. This is obviously done on purpose by Richard Mille by setting a low retail value for their watches.

The RM 55 is definitely a heavy hitter in the Watch Game.
