Christmas tree galaxy cluster
Gravitational lensing is a phenomenon in astrophysics predicted by Einstein's theory of general relativity. It occurs when the gravitational field of a massive object, like a galaxy or a cluster of galaxies, bends the light from a background object, such as a star, galaxy, or quasar. This bending of light can create magnified, distorted, or multiple images of the background object, acting like a lens in space.
