Kirby's Augusta - George Walton, An Age-Old Question

We mark the 210th anniversary of the death of George Walton this week on Feb. 2.
We should because George Walton is one of Augusta's most prominent Founding Fathers.
One of our busiest roads bears his name. Our town's oldest building - Meadow Garden - was his house. He signed the Declaration of Independence. He was also an Augusta judge and a Georgia lawmaker.
And we should remember the day he died because .... We don't know the day he was born.
