Tamzara Armenian folk dance by Gagik Ginosyan students

Armenian folk dances have evolved over thousands of years. They were generally danced in the village square during folk festivals or holidays and had symbolic meaning which far outdates modern religion. Participants were not professional dance groups, but rather made up of the general inhabitants of the community, without regard to gender, age or status. The dance was a means for the community to relate, to bond, and to revive spiritual and ancestral traditions.
This dance was just one informal performance by Los Angeles students of Gagik Ginosyan, folk dance choreographer and director of Karin dance group, visiting from Armenia and volunteering to teach free of charge anyone who is interested to learn traditional folk dances.
