Clic Q&A - Coping with loss
Losing someone you care about can be devastating. There isn’t a right or wrong way to feel or to process our thoughts, and we all have individual coping techniques when it comes to dealing with death.
For our next Live Q&A on Clic, we’ll be exploring the importance of looking after our mental health during a process of bereavement which involves a period of grieving following the loss of a loved one.
We will be joined by the following panellists for this session:
Andy Lloyd-Latouche is an Advice & Information Officer at the Rethink Mental Illness Advice Service. Andy has worked for Rethink Mental Illness for the past 5 years and has experience of providing mental health awareness training to employers. He works on their national adviceline, providing practical advice about a range of mental health issues to members of the public. Andy also has lived experience of an anxiety disorder and depression and tells us the most important thing for his wellbeing is “getting in touch with nature-anything from going for walks in the local nature reserve to talking to my houseplants.”
Helen Bentley is Bereavement Counsellor Manager at Sue Ryder. Helen qualified as a counsellor in the 1990’s and has been counselling people for 25 years. She has worked in a range of settings from universities, charities and commercial counselling companies as well as in private practice as a counsellor, coach and supervisor. She has extensive experience of working with bereavement and recognises loss of many types as a contributory factor to much mental distress. At Sue Ryder, Helen manages the team of Online Bereavement Counsellors working via video link with people all over the country coping with all types of bereavement.
Eleanor Baggley is a Digital Services Manager at Sue Ryder and is responsible for looking after the charity’s Online Bereavement Counselling Service. She has been with Sue Ryder for two and a half years and has been part of the counselling service since they first launched it as a pilot in 2018.
