Stinson 108 's in Brown City Michigan backcountry flying

A need to find backcountry flying had us in our Stinson 's and flying to Brown City Michigan to find some grass strip fun. We have been spending a lot of time on the pavement this year and not flying to airports with a short takeoff distance. It's these grass fields where a tail wheel airplane shines vs. a tricycle gear aircraft. A late thaw this spring and obligations to family and events has kept us from doing what we purchased these taildraggers for, backcountry flying. A quick trip from Marlette is Burgess field and within a few minuets we realized what we had been missing. At a private owned airport you find other aviation enthusiasts and a country calmness you just don't find around the large paved airports. We couldn't help but just have some "plane fun."
Riddle and Scooter believe one of the best taildragger aircraft built for general flying is the Stinson 108. It's a fairly cheap tailwheel airplane yet it provides a large useful load and is easy to fly. There are differnt types of taildragger planes to choose from and Striker would say the Cessna 170B is the best all purpose taildragger, well he might say the Cessna 180 is even better, yet this is a constant debate within the group of pilots we fly with.
