安部幸明は1911年に広島県に生まれた。彼の家は軍人の一家であり家庭的には恵まれていたこともあって、音楽に興味を持ちチェロを学んだ。
そのまま東京音楽学校にチェロ選考として進み、チェンバロも学んだが、クラウス・プリングスハイムに作曲を学び、そちらに軸足を移した。
その後新興作曲家連盟に加わり服部正と行動をともにしたようだが、自ら専門的に学んだチェロを巧みに用いて書いたチェロ協奏曲が彼の出世作となった。
様々な作曲家と関わりを持っていく中で新古典主義的作風を示し、とりわけ2曲書かれた交響曲などを代表作とし、その後は複数の学校で後進の育成に努めた。
多くの受賞のほか、叙勲もしたが2006年にその95歳に渡る人生を終えた。
このソナチネはその後連作的に書かれることとなったものの最初の一曲であり、平易な言語と日本の伝統的な音楽を土台にした穏健な作品である。
こういった日本のイディオムを取り入れた作品が、音楽教室などでもっと演奏されることを願い、今回データ化をしてみた次第である。

Komei Abe was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1911. His family was a military family and he was blessed with a good family background, which led him to develop an interest in music and study the cello.
He went on to study cello at the Tokyo Music School, where he also studied harpsichord, but shifted his focus to composition after studying composition with Klaus Pringsheim.
He later joined the League of Emerging Composers and seems to have worked with Tadashi Hattori, but his cello concerto, which he wrote skillfully using the cello he had studied professionally, was his crowning achievement.
He became involved with a variety of composers and developed a neoclassical style, most notably in the two symphonies he wrote for the orchestra.
He was awarded many prizes and decorations, but in 2006, he passed away at the age of 95.
This sonatina, the first of what would become a series of compositions, is a moderate work based on plain language and traditional Japanese music.
I have compiled this data in the hope that works incorporating Japanese idioms will be performed more often in music schools and other venues.
