Peter Ashley has taken photographs for over forty years. Many of these appear in the twenty five or so books he has produced since 1995, (including the Unmitigated England trilogy), but this box contains 100 postcards of what have become his favourite photographs. A few will be recognised, most will be startlingly new. They could be anything from a cut-out tin cow in deepest Leicestershire to a lifeboat station in lowest Kent. The top of the Forth Bridge, the bottom of the Ironbridge. Human life, animal life, plant life, still life. All with this photographer’s slanted view of his discoveries, described on the reverse with typically wryly apposite captions.
