Escape to the Mountains - Camping, Canoe Poling and Fly Fishing on the Bonnaventure River. On this Gaspé adventure, we do some canoe poling down some wild water, fly fish for Atlantic Salmon and camp in Quebec's remote Appalachian Mountains. Battling against darkness we find a campsite last minute and have a nice fire. Jet Boil going the next morning we fish and pack up and I get close to hooking into an Atlantic Salmon while fishing from the canoe.

We use wilderness techniques to light fires in the backcountry, cook over the fire, and navigate our canoes while listening to the sound of salmon jumping in the crystal clear water right beside our campsite. Canadian bush life at its best.

We accessed the Bonaventure via a remote forest access road in our right-hand drive Mitsubishi Pajero 4x4. A gravel logging road turned into a narrow dirt road that took us deeper into the mountains and over some interesting terrain before reaching the put-in.
