Escape to the Mountains - Camping, Canoe Poling and Fly Fishing on the Bonnaventure River. On this Gaspé adventure, we need rain gear and wake up in a tent in the rain. We're here to do some canoe poling down some wild water, fly fish for Atlantic Salmon and camp in Quebec's remote Appalachian Mountains. This is our last day on the river and we're in for a long, hard day of wilderness travel. With many whitewater rapids in front of us, we need to make distance and we're concerned we won't make it to our endpoint at the ocean before dark, that's where our SUV is waiting for us. We battle on through the rain and solo rapids while poling and paddle some too. It's a tough go and we get cold and wet but we pass beautiful mountains and travel over many large, wild salmon. In the end, we're left feeling very fulfilled as we load our Pajero and drive towards our next adventure - a three-day backpacking trek to complete the tail end of the International Appalachian Trail to the Land's End, stay tuned for this part of our adventure and more!
