Hecq - Above (Sea of Japan)

Early morning sun shines eerily through low clouds, casting a surreal shroud across the Sea of Japan.

Realising that both North Korea and the far-eastern extremity of Siberia were somewhere out beyond the horizon, only added to a sense of disquieting stillness.

I couldn't help wonder if Hecq had this sort of scene in mind as he created a lot of his music. It felt like it, during the hours up on deck, just sitting, listening and gazing out into the unknown.

Footage was taken with a Canon 7D, on the ferry from Donghae in Korea, to Vladivostok, Russia.
