California’s Employment Development Department has been dealing with rampant amounts of fraud, now Bank of America is starting to drain money out of countless EDD accounts, leaving many workers bewildered and without money.

Bank of America said customers must contact the bank and try to claim that money back.

BofA said, “The action was part of our broad effort to fight fraud. There have been billions of dollars of fraud during this pandemic in state unemployment programs including California.”

A few weeks ago Bank of America restored the fraudulent charges only to take all that money back again.

Bank of America told reporters that it is removing funds from some EDD accounts due to suspicious activity on the cards.

They are urging that people contact them to get their money back in order to protect taxpayer money.

In Kansas City, Missouri is now helping those deeply affected by COVID-19 financially get free internet service.

It’s called the Internet Access Support Program, focusing on paying KC metro internet payment for six months, no matter what service you have and desperately keep those that need the internet.

The program is sponsored by the Kansas City Area COVID Recovery Fund and the national CARES Act.
The program is set to help around 2,500 metro families. People have until Dec. 30 to sign up for the program.
At a time where most of us are working remotely, this could help so many on unemployment and students who are remote learning.

And finally, the number of benefits claims for Nevada residents who are self-employed, gig, or contract workers went down last week after a two-week spike.

There were 18,485 new claims filed for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA, a program for the week ending Nov. 7, per the Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation.

DETR said in a press release, “that’s down significantly from the week prior when more than 50,000 initial claims were filed.”

It’s the lowest number of continued claims since the end of March.

The agency says it’s still looking into the cause of the spike reported over the two previous weeks.
