Happy Thursday, which means it’s time to talk about the current state of the US economy and unemployment rates across America in this week’s jobs report from our friends at the Department of Labor.

This week's jobs report showed amazing news for the economy and unemployment rate, as they were lower than last week’s numbers, but slightly above the economists at the DOW Jones predictions.

The weekly report showed that 400,000 Americans filed their first-time unemployment claims, which is lower than the previous week’s 424,000 revised initial claims.

These 400,000 first time unemployment claims were slightly above the predictions of the DOW Jones economists, who estimated 380,000 first time unemployment claims this past week.

It’s great to see these initial unemployment claims decreasing, and I hope next week we can see these figures back in the 300,000’s once again.

Meanwhile, with 26 states trying to end federal extended enhanced unemployment benefits early, all 50 states will lose these vital unemployment funds on September 6th, which strangely enough is Labor Day.

It’s estimated that 20 million Americans will fall off a cash cliff, according to a new study from the People's Policy Project, which also includes unemployment claimants collecting PUA extended enhanced unemployment benefits.

Marc Goldwein, head of policy at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, explained: "Congress screwed up in their decision-making of what policies to include in the American Rescue Plan."

He continued: "I don't expect the job market to be fully recovered by Labor Day. And it seems like there is going to be more [concerns] out there than we expected."

I completely agree with the economists, and hopefully they can create a financial bridge to ease the gap between unemployment and a fully recovered economy and high employment rate.

Finally, we talked about the new batch of IRS unemployment stimulus checks sent out yesterday, and now we have confirmed details on the status of 1.5 million unemployment tax credit disaster relief stimulus checks.

The IRS explained: “The agency will issue 1.5 million tax refunds to Americans this week, with the typical refund around $1,600.”

They also said: “Direct-deposit payments will go out starting July 28, while paper checks will be mailed out starting Friday, July 30.”

This is amazing news for the millions of Americans still waiting for their $10,200 unemployment tax credit, and definitely let me know in the comments below if you’re one of the lucky 1.5 million getting their unemployment stimulus digitally or through the mail this week.
