Unlocking the Horrors of Japanese Monsters: Scarier than Western Creatures?

👹 Unveiling the Spooky Legends of Japanese Monsters! More Frightening than Western Creatures?

As Halloween approaches, the world gets spookier, and we often think of Western monsters and ghosts. But have you ever wondered about the terrifying creatures from Japanese folklore? In this video, we dive into the realm of Japanese Yokai 妖怪 and supernatural entities that have captivated the nation for centuries.

Most of us associate Japanese horror with movies like 'Ring' and 'Ju-on,' but there's a whole other world of supernatural beings known as Yokai. These 'bewitching apparitions' or 'strange creatures' are deeply rooted in Japanese culture, offering a unique perspective on the mysterious and supernatural.

Join us on a journey to Sakaiminato, a small port town in Japan and the birthplace of renowned manga (Japanese comic) artist Mizuki Shigeru. Mizuki's famous work, 'Gegege no Kitaro,' delves into the world of yokai. Learn about Mizuki's life, his encounters with the supernatural, and how he influenced Japanese folklore.

We'll take you on a tour of Mizuki Shigeru Road, an 800-meter-long street adorned with over 170 bronze statues of his iconic yokai creations. If you're a yokai enthusiast, this place is a must-visit!

So, what's scarier? Japanese yokai and ghosts, or the more famous Western horror creatures?
