Russian President Vladimir Putin attended a bike show on the peninsula of Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
Putin's appearance came amid vast protests in Moscow and several Russian cities on Saturday.
One monitoring group has called the protests in Russia the largest the country has seen in eight years, with demonstrators demanding free elections to Moscow's city legislature.
Protesters want opposition-minded candidates to be allowed to run in a city election next month.
Putin and the Kremlin have so far avoided commenting on the unrest over the elections in Moscow.
