“I first started off being the endorser of fashion brands, then I started collaborating with them, [but] this is completely different,” Rihanna tells Vogue at the Paris launch of Fenty, her new fashion brand. “You have to create that DNA and make sense of what the brand stands for.”

For Jahleel Weaver, Fenty’s style director, it is about cultural balance. “She’s done a really great job of having a beautiful team of diversity. That is something new, it is fresh and it is opening doors for so many people, like myself. And saying that you can be anywhere and be a part of this.”
