How to Apply Yourself | Terrie Shipley | TEDxUTulsa
Terrie Shipley empowers students to be in control of their lives on campus and, later on, at work.
Dr. Terrie Shipley is an education consultant with 12 years of experience helping 200+ families with college and career planning. She’s currently working on an edtech startup, Apply U, which aims to democratize high-quality guidance throughout the higher education admission process.
Formerly, Terrie was a visiting professor at The University of Tulsa; Associate Director of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative; a university admissions counselor, academic advisor, and student affairs officer; and an English teacher in Spain and China. The golden thread connecting all of these occupations is student development—her passion.
She is the mother of two spirited children and volunteers to promote innovative education, the arts, mental health, and diversity, equity and inclusion. In her spare time, she travels and writes about food and culture. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
