Kilauea Pu'u 'O'o Pacific Ocean Entry Hawaii Dec 11, 2012

The lava was slowly flowing into the Pacific during the morning hours of December 11, 2012 but in the early afternoon as Leonard, Nina (both from Germany) and I sat watching a small Pahoehoe flow up on the coastal plain. We were just below the recently vacated Royal Garden Subdivision as a large plume arose from the ocean entry lava just a few hundred feet away. We all moved over to the cliffs edge to observe the now vigerous lava flow pouring into the Pacific.
As dusk grew near, the mass of the molten lava increased making for a beautiful sight as the Big Island of Hawaii was building a new lava bench near Kupapa'u. A couple of small boats, one private and the other a small lava viewing tour boat came in close to enjoy the breath taking view with us.
About an hour before sunset a new breakout started pouring over the cliffs edge just a few hundred feet west of the ocean entry spot we were watching causing us to become a lot more vocal in the videos. Hope you enjoy the videos.
