Lava flow ocean entry at Kilauea volcano Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Three part video.

The Kamokuna ocean entry.

These video clips are from my Gopro Hero 3+ shot at 1080p 60 fps.
They're three different outings combined together.

I'm finally catching up on editing and posting video and photos captured during the past month or two.
As each new video is posted you'll be able to see the progression of the new land being added to The Big Island of Hawaii.
Its quite fascinating.

Part 1 shows a unique view of the sea cliff and a small new black sand beach that formed along the cliff. For you geologists, you can see all the layers of past eruptions in the sea cliff.

Part 2 shows the same but, with an active flow slowly streaming down to the ocean.
During this visit it was very stormy with lots of rain.
The bike ride out there that night was quite exciting with all the heavy rain and constant thunder and lightning. Several inches of rain fell that night into morning.

Part 3 is more subdued. Watch the small flow on the left closely as is slowly oozes over the cliff like jelly. Large waves pound the new land and ocean entry. Video from my Nikon D800 of that will soon follow this posting.

As usual it was very windy. These visits it was mostly blowing onshore so, there's a bit of salt spray on the lens. Also, some minor swaying.
I can't see the camera once its down there.

The sea cliff averages about 45' in height.

These new beaches are extremely dangerous. Stay away.

Thanks for subscribing and watching. Many more videos to come.
Be patient. What I do isn't always easy.

My usual warning.
Do not attempt to do what I do.
I have 25 years of experience and I know what I'm doing out there.
So many things can go wrong for those who don't understand or can't recognize the dangers of a volcanic eruption.
Stay away and watch my videos instead.

Having said my usual warning, let me add that this flow is accessible via hikes of at least 8-9 miles round trip.
Expect large crowds of people. Be sure to carry at least 3 liters of water per person.

Always use extreme caution at the sea cliffs and never walk out onto new land as it could easily collapse into the ocean taking you with it.
As the bench grows the immediate sea cliff will be vulnerable to collapse also.
I highly recommend you watching this HVNP safety video on safety at ocean entries.

Also, its best not to breath if you find yourself engulfed in the steam plume. If you think you will be in it often, be sure to wear a respirator.
