Collaring Bison at American Prairie Reserve

Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute scientists are working closely with colleagues at American Prairie Reserve to find out. Using GPS collars, they're tracking the bison as they move across the grasslands of Montana.

The data gathered is helping scientists understand not only how bison move, but also how they fulfill an important role at the center of the prairie ecosystem.
