COASTAL FORAGING - The Gift That Keeps On Giving. ( oyster conservation)

Coastal foraging is about much more than just finding wild food to eat. You need to understand each of the various habits and how it's inhabitants interacts with each other and with adjacent habitats. From the base of the food chain to the very top, removal of too much of any layer will have a serious detrimental effect on the whole ecosystem. ONLY collect an amount for your needs and don't collect too much from one area-vary your gathering over a wider area. A scenic video of cooking and pickling/preserving foraged wild oysters with wild garlic, rose hips and rock samphire on the coast of Carmarthenshire in Wales UK. I also try and repopulate the bay with native oysters. Finding another use for the oyster shells is also explained. "Did I say we found a pearl" we did ! It was nice day out and I'm delighted to share it with you.
