Episode 12 - Father Abraham

Three world religions consider Abraham a father figure. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam each trace their monotheistic faith back to this ancient man from Mesopotamia. Members of these three religions have also spent centuries hating one another. Their hatred has frequently broken out into violent conflict. During one such period, in the 12th century, a Christian scribe drew a small image of Abraham in Paradise, holding throngs of tiny Muslims, Christians, and Jews on his lap. His image was especially significant because the rest of Christian Europe was marching to war in the Middle East, killing Jews and Muslims. When he discovered this image, Brother Robert re-interpreted it as an icon, with the hope that it would challenge people of faith to embrace unity and peace in Abraham in our own time of bloody conflict.
