"Leading A Hard Scramble" Explained
I thought I should probably make this video to give a bit of clarity to the little storm that kicked off a few days ago after I posted a short video of me leading someone up a grade 2 scramble, because as unbelievable as it may seem, sometimes on the Internet people get much more angry about things than they probably should.
Must say thanks to the professional and reasonable people who I've talked to :)
As the old saying goes "Boy, that escalated quickly!"
Here's a little contents table for you.
00:00 - Introduction
02:06 - Context of the original video
04:23 - Addressing the Criticisms
05:26 - Criticism: The climb is too dangerous
08:11 - Criticism: You should be wearing helmets
09:00 - Criticism: You were climbing directly above her
09:16 - Criticism: The client was scared!
09:55 - Criticism: You're not leading!
11:22 - Criticism: You dropped a rock
12:27 - "Armchair Expert" and "Random Internet User"
14:02 - Addressing some other comments
(15:11 - A nice little summary of the situation)
16:00 - Ending
Cheers!
PS: For those of you asking about Grade 4 scrambles... Yes, I too thought that there were only three grades, but when I did a google search to get the screen cap for the Grade 2 definition the page listed grade 4 as well, so I thought I'd better include that, in case I get people saying "He didn't include Grade 4!!" But now people are like "Wtf?? Grade 4??" How confusing :P
