The Importance of You | Teshi Sharma | TEDxElproIntlSchool
In the very beginning of her talk, Teshi highlights one major fact that “we learn on our own and nobody arranges that knowledge, that experience for you readily on a buffet”. She observes that this is what differentiates this century of learning. She pays attention to the fact that, “We are talking about skills of the 21st century like communication, innovation, leadership, flexibility, critical thinking, public speaking that needs to be inculcated, and yet we live in a world, where 77% of the population have some level of anxiety regarding public speaking”. So, she raises a question, “How do we inculcate these skills?” She acknowledges that “nobody can come to you and teach you that… At the end of the day, it’s all you.” She adds, “The learning in this century is all about you, and the power that you have. You decide what you will do and when you will do it. Teshi Sharma is not your average student. Whether it be her profound love for pizza or her adamance on participating in everything, she's learned that being different is better and being boring is out of the question. Having been part of innumerable conferences, events and organisations, Teshi has built herself an identity which she prides on being independent of orthodoxy. Besides public speaking, her hobbies include everything from exploring different cities to curling up in a corner with a book. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
